About the Project:
In July we are planning the “Laugher is the Best Medicine Tour” which will bring free circus and clowning performances as well as workshops to youth and families in and around Mexico. We would like to serve youth and families, especially migrant families in shelters, orphanages, hospitals, schools and other centers. The tour will consist of 8 persons and will be 2-3 weeks in July in San Diego, Tijuana, Ensenada, and other cities. Accommodations, local travel, and food will be covered. Artists will be responsible for transportation to and from San Diego CA.
About the position:
We are looking for performers who have a big heart for youth and children as well as other underserved communities. If you like to make others laugh and to share joy we want to empower you as an artist. If you are a clown or would be enthusiastic about learning pantomime and stage acting skills this is a project that will interest you. If you want to share your circus skill with as many people as possible because it is amazing, then you belong on our tour. This is a volunteer position and is unpaid. As a member of the tour, you will be expected to volunteer time in advance of the tour for tour meetings, rehearsals, and a kick-off fundraiser event. Additionally, each tour member will be delegated a task or responsibility.
Requirements: US citizen with a current passport, able to travel on tour to Mexico for 2-3 weeks in July. Background in circus arts or clowning.
Preferred qualifications: Based in the San Francisco area. Fluent in Spanish and English, touring experience, excellent communicator, team player. Performance skill in circus or clowning. Have one or two five minute stage acts and a skill to share in workshops. Ground acts only, we are not considering aerial acts or any acts needing large equipment.
